This was a Homeless Man I knew, Killed in a Hit and Run. His name was Michael Alston – The man without feet, thick dreadlocks, and intense eyes who wheeled around downtown, Eastern Market, and other areas.

Clear

Known as Dreadlock Mike, he was killed at 2.30 a.m. on Saturday morning, 2013, in an apparent hit and run incident approximately a mile from Comerica Park on Gratiot and Russell. Dreadlock Mike was a veteran who had lost a leg and had been confined to a wheelchair for years and Homeless. He was a vet, had lost his legs, and still through the hardest winters, he remained and persevered. Truly a man that had faced unimaginable hardship during his lifetime.
